His Goodness

"How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you." Psalm 31:19

This verse jumped out of the pages at me this morning.  Wow, God has tons of goodness stored up for me!  I love this. There are times I can worry about the future and what it will hold, but God doesn't worry about my future - He has loads of goodness stored up for it that He can't wait to pour out on me.  And that includes today.  I believe He has goodness specifically stored up to pour into my life today.  Hmm...suddenly I'm a bit more excited about today.  I wonder what his goodness will look like today - the goodness stored up for this particular day.  I'm excited to experience it and embrace it   I'm ready to watch for all the ways He pours out goodness into my day and to enjoy all of it!  Thank you Lord for the gift of this day and the goodness you plan to pour out in it.

The book I never planned to write

Life with God is surely an adventure...and you know what?...I wouldn't want it any other way. I never planned on writing a book, but I'm so glad that God's plans are bigger than ours and that HIS PLAN was to invite me to steward the message of this book. So here I sit today, with a published book I never expected to write, typing the first post on a blog I never expected to create, amazed at God's faithfulness through this entire journey, and blessed beyond words by the message of His heart that He's given me to share.

It all started a few years ago when I was living my dream as a missionary in Kenya, but struggling with my deep desire for a husband to walk life with. I just didn’t see any potential Prince Charmings coming down the dirt paths of the village I lived in, and I was struggling to trust God to provide for this longing of my heart.  I found myself frustrated, crying out to Him, “Lord, why is it that after walking with you for over 20 years, I still struggle to trust you with certain areas of my life like this?” 

I heard His gentle reply, “Beloved, the problem is that you don’t fully know or believe my heart for you. In order to trust me with complete confidence, you must first understand my heart for you.”  And then He proceeded to share nine life changing truths about His heart with me. Things like "My heart longs for you to experience abundant, overflowing life." And, "I will never withhold any good thing from you."  And, "I love lavishing my generosity on you."

The season that followed was an exhilarating journey of mining the depths of each of His statements. I dug into the scriptures, asked questions, listened to His Spirit, and began to fall madly in love with the most generous, passionate, and beautiful heart I’ve ever known.  

Soon I heard the Lord invite me to share what I was learning with others, because He longed for all of His children to truly understand the extravagant goodness of His heart for them.Thus began the journey of compiling my journal entries and conversations with God into a book. He was so faithful to walk me through each step of this journey and now I love watching the truth of His overflowing heart transform others as they encounter Him in this book. I pray that you too encounter His goodness and His heart for you as you read!
